Bio:

Amelia Scanlon started her music career playing piano at age 8 from a private instructor in her hometown of Shoreline Washington and continued playing until 2020. In 5th grade she started playing the cello then quickly switched to bass at the end of that same school year. During middle school she started taking private bass lessons and also started playing in the jazz band sparking her love for the versatile instrument. During high school she started playing in groups outside of her high school orchestra like Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the pits of many musicals including; Beauty and the Beast, James and The Giant Peach, A Christmas Story, and many more. During COVID she continued her practice of the double bass and auditioned to Western Washington University's music program where she has been a student.

She is currently in the process of getting a Bachelors in Music Education. She plays jazz gigs around Bellingham and as well as playing with the Western Washington University’s symphony orchestra, she plays with the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. She also has played with WWU’s Big Bands and some WWU combos.
